THE VISION.
Movement as ritual
I’ve always believed movement can be more than exercise or performance. It can be a daily ritual, a way to come back into your body, quiet your mind, and simply feel good moving.
I wanted to create a beautiful, high-quality set of poi that could become part of that practice. Something you reach for alongside yoga, meditation, pilates, dance, or whatever movement brings you back to yourself.
SoulSox are poi for everyday flow. Made to move with you.
About
Jennifer SWANSON
Jennifer Swanson discovered poi in 2009, building upon a ballet background to create a style rooted in movement, expression, and clean visual lines. With a background in Graphic Design and Art honed at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and a decade of experience designing and collaborating with brands like Steve Madden and artists like Beyoncé and Tina Knowles, she brings a bold sense of design, color theory, and style to every project she embraces. Her creative spirit knows no boundaries, exploring the worlds of aerial silks, yoga, hiking, climbing, dance, painting, and ceramic art.
What are Poi?
Poi is a movement art created by the Māori people of New Zealand. An integral part of Kapa Haka, ceremonial dances that tell the stories, myths, and legends of the Māori, poi has acquired a new international cachet as part of the contemporary movement art known as Flow and Circus Arts.
SolSox are a unique twist on poi and we are proud to have this beautiful tradition as part of the DNA of our art and products. We strongly advise all members of the SolSox family to learn more about the art we are descended from and the people who first created it and continue to inspire the world!
